A Discussion on the Submission to the White Paper on Overseas Development Assistance also took place.
David Sanders is the Director of the School of Public Health in the University of the Western Cape South Africa since its inception in 1993. He has over 20 years experience in Primary Health Care (PHC) in Zimbabwe and South Africa. He has played an instrumental role in conceptualising and developing the intellectual framework for the People’s Health Assembly. He was the author of a number of the key background documents for the event and has played a key role in the development of the PHM. Prof. Sanders is the author of WHO documents analyzing the progress towards improving global health and the role of Primary Health Care and Health Promotion. He is also a foundation member of the International People’s Health Council and a member of the Core Coordinating Group of the People’s Health Movement. He is the author of two books: “The Struggle for Health” and “Questioning the Solution” and has researched and written in the areas of political economy of health, structural adjustment, child nutrition and health personnel education.
